Drama is an inclusive, positive way to introduce Social Sciences/Studies curriculum topics. Students act a short play, about 8-10 minutes, that introduces a curriculum topic then move onto discussions, talking about the play characters but starting to relate to their own experiences. Modules can be used as a complete lesson plan or incorporated with your existing resources.
Our Social Sciences/Studies modules are quick and easy for teachers to use. Fun and interactive for students. If you want your classroom to come alive discussing consumer rights, candidates standing in school elections, the value placed on resources or how redundancy affects people and communities then try one of our modules.
You don't need any drama or acting skills, just a sense of fun and a desire to try something different.
S1: Redundancy, people and their communities
Play: Friends discuss the effects and how they can help a student whose parents have been made redundant.
Discussion/Activities: encourages students to consider the effects redundancy has on a person, family and community.
Objective: To discover how people organise themselves in response to challenge and crisis.

S2: Student candidates election leadership styles (Social Organisation and Social Systems)
Play: Students discuss candidates in a school election, leadership styles, who they might vote for and why.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss candidates and leadership styles in the school election.
Objective: To understand how leadership of groups is acquired and exercised.

S3: Consumer rights (Resources And Economic Activities / Resources)
Play: Friends want to return faulty cellphones but can't until they learn about consumers and their rights.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss consumers, consumer rights and how to exercise these rights.
Objective: to understand how and why individuals and groups seek to safeguard the rights of consumers.

S4: The value of resources
Play: A group of friends discuss what they think should happen with a local vacant land.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss the different values placed on resources, such as land.
Objective: To understand why people view and use resources differently and possible consequences.

Orders and prices
Each module costs $NZ45 including New Zealand taxes. To order modules email us your name, contact details (including school email address) and order number on official school letterhead. We will email you the modules within 48 hours.
You then have a seven day right of return period. If you do not want to use the modules please email them back to us within seven days. If we do not hear from you within seven days then we will send you an invoice to be paid.
Payment can be made by cheque (we accept cheques from anywhere in the world) or through the secure payment PayPal system. You and your school can then use these modules indefinitely at no further cost.
