Drama modules link Science classes to the everyday world
Help bring Science and Technology topics alive with students in your classes. Each of our current Science and Technology curriculum modules has a short play, discussion and activities. Students act out the 8-10 minutes play to introduce the subject then move onto questions and discussion. Modules can be used as a lesson plan or with existing resources.
Modules are quick and easy for teachers to use. Fun and interactive for students. If you want to explore food packaging while eating lunch, check out home security options, interview an astronaut who's been to the Moon, or talk with some-one from 100 years ago, then try our modules.
You don't need any drama or acting skills, just a sense of fun and a desire to try something different.
ST1: Explore food containers and packaging
Play: While eating their lunches students discuss different types of food packaging and containers.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss packaging shapes and sizes, materials and disposability.
Objective: To be aware of the relationship between packaging style, need and purpose.

ST2: Explore home security options and systems
Play: Students discuss how a recent burglary has made them feel, their safety at home and home security.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss possessions, home safety and home security.
Objective: To be aware of reasons for security systems and some home security options.

ST3: Interview an astronaut about visiting the Moon (Making Sense Of Planet Earth And Beyond / Earth and Beyond)
Play: Interview with Astronaut Alson about a recent Moon landing.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss Earth, Moon and role of an astronaut.
Objective: To be aware of the Moon and astronauts.

ST4: Observe food eaten for lunch by two students
Play: As part of a science class the eating habits of two students having lunch are observed and recorded by the class.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss food, lunches and eating habits.
Objective: To be aware of different foods and eating techniques.

ST5: Time travel and technology (Making Sense Of The Nature Of Science And Its Relationship to Technology)
Play: One and Two are from different centuries. They meet and discuss everyday items that both take for granted.
Discussion/Activities: Encourages students to discuss simple science and technology advances during the past 100 years.
Objective: To be aware of how science and technology changes may affect people and communities.

Orders and prices
Each module costs $NZ45 including New Zealand taxes. To order modules email us your name, contact details (including school email address) and order number on official school letterhead. We will email you the modules within 48 hours.
You then have a seven day right of return period. If you do not want to use the modules please email them back to us within seven days. If we do not hear from you within seven days then we will send you an invoice to be paid.
Payment can be made by cheque (we accept cheques from anywhere in the world) or through the secure payment PayPal system. You and your school can then use these modules indefinitely at no further cost.
